This Month’s Reads - August
I have officially jumped on the band wagon of romance novel reading, and I can officially say that I am obsessed. It has been such a nice escape to take some time to myself each night after the kids go to bed and read. I recently bought a Kindle which I am also in love with. It is so easy on the eyes, and I can read in the dark if there’s a little one sleeping in our bed. Plus, there’s a ton of amazing free books! Here are the books I have read in the month of August and my thoughts:
Book #1: ‘It Happened One Summer’ by Tessa Bailey
I saw a ton of people recommend this book series and figured it should be my first read on my new Kindle. I absolutely loved the writing style of Tessa Bailey and the characters personalities. It was an enticing storyline and an easy read. Totally made me want to visit a small fishing town on the coast of Washington! *I purchased this book on the Kindle.
Book #2: ‘Hook, Line and Sinker’ by Tessa Bailey
This book was the follow up of “It Happened One Summer”. It was from the little sister, Hannah’s, perspective on her new romance. These characters personalities and storyline were very different from the first book which I appreciated. You can sometimes see repetitiveness from the same author in multiple books. This book was also an easy read and recommend reading. *I purchased this book on the Kindle.
Book #3: ‘It Ends with Us’ by Colleen Hoover
I have heard alllllll the hype about Colleen Hoover and was EXTREMELY interested to read a book by her! ‘It Ends with Us’ was highly rated on Amazon so I decided to start with it. Colleen Hoover’s writing style was very different from Tessa Bailey’s (who’s books I had just finished and loved) on how she told a story. This book revolved around the serious topic of abuse and gave a inside look and perspective of what a wife and daughter endure in abusive relationships. This book was constantly on my mind throughout the day as I was reading it and made me think. I had continuous thoughts about the what the main character, Lilly Bloom, was going through and if she would forgive her abuser or not. I found myself constantly telling my husband what was happening in the book and stressing if she would leave her toxic situation or stay and get hurt again. Overall, it was a great book with great writing. Excited to read the follow-up book that comes out in a couple of months! So, with that, I can officially understand the hype that surrounds Colleen Hoover and am excited to read more by her. Make sure to give me your recommendations below! *I purchased this book on the Kindle.
Book #4: ‘Things We Never Got Over’ by Lucy Score
I. Loved. This. Book. The characters in this book were so great. So great, that I completely fell in love with each of them and wanted to officially move to the town of Knockmount and get a Basset Hound. Another great writing style by Lucy Score with an intriguing storyline. It is an easy read that is wholesome. Would totally recommend this book and am super excited for the follow up book that comes out in February of 2023! *This book was free on the Kindle.
Book #5: ‘By a Thread’ by Lucy Score
I read this book directly after ‘Things We Never Got Over’ by Lucy Score. I found the characters personalities to be similar along with some of the storyline. It was an easy read but one that didn’t suck me in like the other books. It seemed to be a little predictable and ended with a “everything’s all better/happily ever after”. I don’t want to say that I didn’t like it… But it was probably my least favorite of the 5 I read this month. It worth giving it a read though! *This book was free on the Kindle.
