My Son’s Nursery Design
Before
After
Welcome to my son’s nursery!
For this space, I had two designs in mind. Dark and bold or clean and calm. Take a guess on which one I went with? Although I love the look of vertical board and batten, I felt like it’s becoming a little over done and wanted to do something different. The horizontal boards gave the room texture while giving me the clean and clam look I wanted, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.
Thank goodness my husband is handy and did all the millwork himself. We used 1x2 trim pieces that we cut down from existing wood we had and spaced them out every 12 inches. You can also buy 1x2 pieces at your local hardware store. We were conscious of where the horizontal trim pieces landed with the tops of our door frames and spaced them to line up evenly. My husband installed them with his handy nail gun, caulked the top and bottom of the edges and painted them the same color as the wall, Sherwin Williams Snowbound.

I wanted a bold but clean looking crib, so I went with this beautiful black one from Crate & Kids. It’s a matte finished and stands out well in the all-white space. The glider is also from Crate & Kids and it is an absolute dream. It’s a little pricey, but boy is it worth it. The textured rug from Boutique Rugs breaks up the space, while the black dresser from Target that I got a few years ago ties in well with the crib.
Name Flag | Spaceship Hooks | Poufs | Chalkboard | Peg Board | 'Hi ' Wood Name Sign
I chose a name flag over your typical wood name sign and paired it with these adorable wood spaceship hooks I got off Etsy. I had two extra poufs laying around and thought they fit this space perfectly.
This nursery was everything I dreamed it would be and is by far my favorite space that I have done. It is calm, relaxing and a room that my son can grown into and enjoy. Let me know if you have any questions below in the comments and I would be happy to answer them!
